Manaus Local Events
Manaus has a rich calendar full of festivals, cultural celebrations and Amazon events happening all year round. Several of these events feature theatre, opera, jazz and film festivals. Boi Manaus, usually celebrated on Manaus’ anniversary on October 24th, is enjoyed with great fanfare. The Boi Manaus festival celebrates Northern Brazilian culture with unique Boi Bumba music. Place: Manaus Sambodromo (11 Feb 2012 - 15 Feb 2012)This is one of the best events that happen in Manaus! The Carnaval is the time when the locals have a chance to feel the Amazon beats and dance the samba to their hearts' content.
Place: Manaus - Amazonas Theatre (20 Mar 2012 - 29 Apr 2012)
The Amazonas Opera Festival, full of operas, concerts, and other performances, takes place in Manaus' Amazonas Theatre from April to May.
Place: Parintins, Amazonas (29 Jun 2012 - 1 Jul 2012)
A fantastic, colorful three-night festival that takes place at the end of June and brings thousands of people from all over the world to Parintins.

This important music festival is the 4th presentation of Brazilian and international jazz stars performing famous jazz songs in Manaus in the end of July.
Place: Manacapuru - Amazon (24 Aug 2012 - 26 Aug 2012)
The Cirandas Festival features magical performances by Ciranda dance groups and takes place here every year for three nights in August.

The Fecani Song Festival takes place in September every year in the town of Itacoatiara, featuring music by new song composers.

The Christmas Concert will be held at the Cultural Center Largo São Sebastião, in Manaus on December 25th, at 7:00 pm. Come and enjoy!
