The Jazz Festival - Amazonas

Since its first presentation in 2006 The Amazonas Jazz Festival has featured diverse styles, artists, regions, audiences and performing areas. Musicians represent the most varied jazz trends, coming from the most significant jazz hubs worldwide. At the present edition, we will stay on the same track, presenting a program that mixes vanguard and jazz legends, besides great Brazilian names and local artists.

In 2010, the Amazonas Jazz Festival enlarges its geographical scope, reaching other places in the Amazon as well as various districts in Manaus, hence reaching a larger audience. Besides the workshops with guest artists, which always attract quite a lot of interest, the Amazonas Jazz Festival offers seminars on music pedagogy.

Since its third edition, the festival offers technical workshops on Wind InstrumentCare and maintenance, an agreement signed between The Amazonas State Cultural Secretariat- and Yamaha Music Latin America, S.A. 

This same agreement enlarges its scope by offering a course on Block Flute, aiming to capacitate teachers in musical pedagogy. The introduction of this instrument complements a project called the Young Citizen Project, a program already implemented by the state`s government. The Contemporanea, Brazil´s foremost percussion instrument manufacturer, is anew Festival´s supporter, thus offering two workshops on Brazilian percussion. At a moment when Amazonas is about to face new challenges, Amazonas Jazz Festival consolidates its presence both in the Brazilian and international cultural calendars.

Since its debut in 2006 Amazonas Jazz Festival proudly acknowledges the support of many important companies.
