In Manaus there are some good attractions to spend the day such as the Opera House, which is inaugurated in 1896. The Theatre Amazonas has diverse architectural and decorative styles, unify the classic, regional and rococo features. There are 36 thousand tiles brought from Germany. All of it portray the Brazilian's flag and adorn its dome. Its interior has 198 chandeliers. The chairs and the floor are original. The theatre has a capacity for up to 700 people shared between the main saloon and the boxes.
The floating harbor of Manaus was projected and made in Liverpool especially for Manaus. Its platforms follow the water levels during the dry and wet seasons. Rio Negro Palace is the most beautiful Rubber Barons residence, and currently belongs to the state but a long time ago it was owned by Waldemar Shultz, who is considered as one of the ten richest barons in Manaus.
Around the market area, the houses are on stilts and people are living on river's shores, expecting better lives, mark the contrast between the modern and the old. The Market downtown is the real soul of Manaus with its rich in flavours, colours. People from everywhere come to the city, where they can see fruits and fresh fish, by boat.
