The Meeting of the Waters gets its name from the meeting of the rivers Negro and Solimões. This natural confluence must be preserved for future generations to enjoy the landscape.
Our partners lay great emphasis on sustainable tourism. We arrange talks on the importance of the confluence to the Amazon and instruct visitors not to throw garbage in the river. Visitors are asked to treat it as a world heritage, especially because there are number of aquatic species that thrive in these waters.
As a symbolic heritage area, the Meeting of the Waters is protected by the Constitution of the State of Amazonas.
